It's an awful journey ... I see a psychologist regularly just to help me stay on track ... whatever that means. I hope that will help lift some of the sadness for your mom.

You know Michelle, I know that your Mum won't want to listen to this right now, but the transfusions, as scary as they are, really are a part of the journey. I also had a meltdown when I was told that I needed one - without it, no chemo. No chemo, no hope. My oncologist looked at me very sternly and said, "Audrey, it is in YOUR best intersts that you have the transfusion!" So I did, and it wasn't as bad as I anticipated.
Again, I know that your Mum won't be able to hear all of that right now - cancer and all that it brings with it is F**king scary! My heart breaks for both of you!
